Artistic Director for the Scranton Jazz Festival, Marko Marcinko has been carrying out his staunch, all-embracing musical career since age 14. Being a part of a musical family, you can say Marko’s love and want to learn more about the art, was already dyed-in-the-wool at a young age. Marko credits his playing style and musical touch to Professor Steve Bagby- one of his great teachers. Marko graduated with a BM in music performance from The University of Miami and was touring all over the world by this time. Marko’s opportunities never fell short of him giving back, musically, everything he has acquired skill in and loves most. He is an adjunct professor at Penn State University and Keystone College. Marko has garnished attention from drum endorsing companies and is mentioned in countless magazines, newspapers and trade publications. He currently tours all over the world with The Dave Liebman Group and has his own rock/rhythm-and-blues/pop band called Music for Models. The Marko Marcinko Latin Jazz Sextet delivers an upbeat mix of Latin and Brazilian jazz flavors. The quintet was formed in 2007 and features conga master Bob Velez, guitarist Bill Washer, bassist Paul Rostock, saxophonist/flutist Tom Hamilton, and drummer/percussionist Marko Marcinko. Each member has a long history with the Latin jazz tradition, from touring and performing with the likes of Latin jazz legends and multi Grammy award winning performers such as, Tito Puente, Machito, Arturo Sandoval, Gato Barbieri, Charlie Sepulveda, and Paquito D’Rivera. The various members of this high-energy traditional Latin jazz quintet keep this musical style on fire and alive.
