Teen Town is an impressive fusion/jazz/funk trio of teenage musicians who’ve been taking audiences by storm with their fresh approach to fusion and their exceptional talent, energy, and chemistry. This powerhouse trio is led by award-winning bassist Gabriel Severn (13), with Logan Bedard (16) on drums and Connor Rohrer (18) on keys. Their name pays homage to one of the great jazz fusion tunes of the ’70s, but their music spans multiple decades and genres, from originals to Mile Davis to Weather Report to Chick Corea. Close your eyes and you might think you were listening to seasoned musicians with decades behind them. Despite their ages, the 3 have an extraordinary amount of experience, with almost 1000 performances between them.

Teen Town hit the ground running after their debut in May 2017. They’ve toured throughout Pennsylvania with a packed schedule ever since, performing at the 2018 Boscov’s Berks Jazz Festival, the Dauphin County Wine & Jazz Festival, TEDx Harrisburg, the 2018 Millennium Music Conference, the River City Blues Club, the People’s Choice Festival, the Central PA Jazz Camp, the Moravian College Summer Jazz Camp, the Berks Jazz Fest’s Get JazzED Day, and the Lock Haven Jazz and Arts festival. They’ve opened for the Victor Wooten Trio, the Tierney Sutton Band, the Ben Wolfe Trio, the Dwayne Dolphin 4tet, and the Original Drifters. Upcoming festival appearances include the People’s Choice Festival, the Christmas City Summer Jazz Festival, the Scranton Jazz Festival, the Dauphin County Jazz & Wine Festival, and the Berkshires Jazz Festival. Having caught the eye of promoters worldwide, appearances stateside and abroad are in the works for the band.

Bassist and leader Gabriel Severn is the winner of two 2018 DownBeat Student Music Awards. At age 11, he broke out with a viral video that immediately grabbed the attention and praise from some of the world’s leading musicians. This put his professional career into motion. 4 months after starting on the bass at age 7, Gabriel joined a young Motown and soul tribute band, the Uptown Music Collective’s Urban Souls. They gained significant recognition in central Pennsylvania, performing at numerous community events and benefits, and appearing on TV and radio. In addition to performing with Teen Town, Gabriel occasionally performs with the young piano phenom Jose Andre and with the UMC’s Just Jazz trio. He is a Markbass Rising Star, an Ernie Ball Music Man artist, and has a custom line of Pavicich bass strings. He recently performed at the 2018 NAMM Show and at the Dallas International Guitar Festival. He has been a guest performer with the Williamsport City Jazz Orchestra, the Bucknell University Jazz Ensemble, and at the Ann Arbor Art Fair. He’s also performed at the Scranton Jazz Festival, the Lock Haven Jazz and Music Festival, the Dauphin County Wine & Jazz Festival, the Williamsport Welcomes the World Festival, the Lycoming County Fair, the Dauphin County Music & Wine Fest, the Downtown Billtown Music Festival, and the Central PA Jazz Festival. Gabriel has performed hundreds of times in the 6 years since his very first onstage appearance.

Keyboardist Connor Rohrer began studying classical piano and playing repertoire at 5 years old. As a young teen he started experimenting with hard rock and blues on keyboards, and discovered jazz as freshman in high school. He now has expanded his horizons to other styles outside straight-ahead jazz, and Teen Town offers the opportunity to explore fusion and share his creativity in improvisation. Connor will attend the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami this fall.

Drummer Logan Bedard discovered his love for the drums at age 5 and began formal study at 7. A year later, he attended his first Open Mic which launched an eclectic live performance career. His favorite venues include The Chameleon Club in Lancaster and historic Webster Hall in NYC. In addition to Teen Town, current projects include the Jazz 2 ensemble at Messiah College and working with notable PA musicians Shea Quinn, Rod Goelz, Shawan Rice, Cal Weary and Manian Van Hacker.
